This post will have more than the normal number of exclamation marks because I am so excited! Look at what my mother made for me: I saw a very cute donut-shaped coin purse on the internet and asked my mother to make me a bag that looks like one, and she delivered! She also made me a coin purse as a bonus! The bag is big enough to carry my cosmetic pouch, phone, coin purse and iPod. Perfect for strolling around the mall.

A recent trip to Daiso made me found this: The product is called 'Cappuccino Mixer' and is powered by two AA batteries. The package includes the device and a stand. There are more information at the back of the packaging: I had a bit of a struggle with the positioning of the batteries. The symbols (+ -) indicated on the packaging differs from what is on the gadget itself. I followed the symbols on the gadget and ended up having one of the batteries stucked and, of course, the gadget not working. Luckily, my boyfriend was able to get it out. We then followed the instructions on the packaging and it finally started whirring! Alright, time to test this baby! I know that making a cappuccino requires an espresso machine, which I don't have. I only got a humble (though in hot pink) coffee maker, so I guess, this will have to make do. When frothing the milk, The 'mixer's head' should be just below the surface. Make sure to dip the head first into the milk before turning the gadget on or there you'll be getting an unexpected milk shower. You'll know you're doing the right thing when the milk forms a whirlpool. Then, move the gadget in a gentle up and down motion for about 30 seconds or until the milk gets nice and foamy. Pour coffee about halfway of your mug. At this point, you can add sweetener if you like. I added a teaspoon of brown sugar on mine. Then, gently pour about the same amount of milk. Finally, spoon some of the milk foam on top. I also sprinkled the foam with some cinnamon. I bet cocoa powder or chocolate shavings will be nice too! Take a sip, sigh, then, smile. Milk frothing ability-wise, I could say that this Cappuccino Mixer did a great job! I am usually reluctant of buying things that can only do one thing (this device should not be used to beat eggs or whip cream with) but this device is so inexpensive. For only Php88, it lets me have a taste of cafe-made coffee at home anytime. Other handheld and electric jug-type frothers may cost hundreds, even, thousands of pesos, so I'm glad I was able to find a cheap one that works the same. However, I think I might need to be more careful with it if I want it to last (this applies to almost anything, anyway).

I just ordered it last night and it was here this morning. Awesome! I'm not really a milk-drinker, but then again, I can never say no to a mug that has cow spots and says milk in front. I am such a sucker for labels, hehe.
You can order yours too from Lazada.com.ph and they are available in different colors. Mine's black, at least, the cow spots are. So, what do you think of this novelty mug? Do any of you enjoy drinking milk (I actually don't)? I would love to hear from you! - Krissie I've been wanting to have an eco mug for quite some time. They're basically everywhere, alright, but I haven't seen one that I particularly like until now. At Php95, my initial thought was it's expensive. Regular coffee mugs retail at around Php50-60. Upon further 'investigation' I figured that the lid did it. I saw suction-type silicon lids at the same department store and they cost Php50. And with that, I gave in and bought it. Meet the new addition to my collection: I don't know what I saw in this coffee mug but it has a certain charm. Perhaps, I was attracted by the novelty factor of looking like a to-go cup...and it say's coffee in front. Cheesy. Yeah, that's me. The lid has an actual spout where the beverage can pour out. The stream of liquid it makes is quite moderate, perfect if you are drinking something hot. Furthermore, the lid is actually pretty snug. I tried tipping the cup with water inside and there were no leaks! After taking pictures, I officially declared that it is time for my coffee-break! The only thing I don't like about this coffee mug is that it didn't come with a sleeve. I had to hold it just below the rim to prevent it from scorching my fingers while I'm drinking my coffee. Anyway, I guess it's time for me to make one of those mug cozies.
I ended up using this mug in the office. It's cute and serves its purpose well. What do you think of eco mugs? And how about those mug cozies all around Pinterest and Etsy? Let me hear ya in the comments below! - Krissie |
